Meet Debbie Origho…
Debbie Origho was a member of the Women of Tomorrow Chapter at Dillard high school in Fort Lauderdale, Fl. She served as the President of her chapter leading young ladies in personal development activities such as professional etiquette; resume building, college assistance, and various community service projects. Debbie earned a $ 5,000 academic scholarship from the Women of Tomorrow which aided her in her attendance to Howard University in Washington, DC. During her tenure at Howard, Debbie served as Senior Producer of WHUT-TV SPOTLIGHT NETWORK, 2nd Vice President for the Chapel Assistants, and Ivy Leaf Reporter for Alpha Chapter, Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority Incorporated. She also had the opportunity to intern at some of the leading television networks in Washington, DC such as NBC 4- WRC, FOX 5- WTTG, and the National Geographic Channel. Debbie also earned a 4-year fellowship in South Florida at NBC 6- WTVJ through the Emma Bowen Foundation. She majored in Broadcast Journalism and graduated in May of 2008 with honors, making her the first person in her family to graduate from college.
Upon graduation, Debbie moved to the Atlanta, GA and currently works at CNN as a Guide in the Inside CNN Program. She is learning how to transition from the Editorial/ News side of the Media industry to the Business side in Sales and Marketing because she would like to be a General Manager of a local TV Station one day before owning her own Network.
Debbie says that working in the Corporate America has truly fueled her desire to continue to be the best that she can be as a communications professional and pursue all opportunities in Media Management and Ownership.
Outside of her new day to day work duties as an adult, Debbie serves her community as a member of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated, NAACP, and the National Society of Collegiate Scholars. She says that she gives all glory to God for her success thus far and her experience in the Women of Tomorrow.
“The Women of Tomorrow opened so many doors for me, I had the opportunity to interact, learn, and grow from professionals in South Florida who helped mold me into the woman that I am today.”
Her latest project is a fast spreading blog named “Infinite Gen”, which can be found at www.infinitegen.blogspot.com. Infinite Gen brings together some of today’s most out spoken leaders whose aim is to inform, uplift, and empower as we discuss a variety of issues concerning our generation today. One of the blog highlights is an interview with Michelle Duster, Great-Grand Daughter of Ida B. Wells.
