Ms. Amos is a Founding Mentor of the Women of Tomorrow Mentor & Scholarship Program (WOT), a Board Member, Treasurer and serves on the Scholarship and Finance Committees. She holds both a Bachelor’s and a Master’s Degree in Business Administration from the University of Miami and is a Certified Public Accountant in the state of Florida.
She is currently President and Owner of Amos Sports Grille. Previously she was a Fuddruckers Franchisee in Florida and Tennessee from 1983 to 2007. Prior to this, Ms. Amos served as an investment manager and tax consultant for her own C.P.A. firm. She was also a Co-founder and Director of Mega Bank, a 5-branch community bank, which was sold in 1995. At Mega Bank, she was Chair of the Audit Committee for 10 years and served on the Executive and Loan Committees. She has served on the Board of Directors of IVAX Corporation as well as its Audit and Nomination Committees.
Ms. Amos is and has been extremely active at her Alma Mater, the University of Miami. Ms. Amos is a member of the Board of Trustees, a Committee Member of the Audit and Compliance, Finance, Master Planning and Construction Committees and currently serves as Chair of the Alumni Center Capital Campaign, is Chair-Elect of the Audit & Compliance Committee and a member of the President’s Council. Also at the University of Miami she has served as President of the National Alumni Association, Presidential Search Committee, Presidential Inauguration Committee and 75th Anniversary Committee. She is a member of the Founders Society (Ibis), a Golden Cane and has received the highest honor attainable at The University of Miami, the Iron Arrow. In 2006, Ms. Amos was named Alumnus of the Year.
A very active community member, Ms. Amos participates in many charity causes. She is a Member of the Orange Bowl Committee, President of Wings Over Miami Aviation Museum, Advisory Board Member of Women’s Executive Leadership, Vice-Chair and Audit Committee Member of the Miami-Dade County School Board, a recent Board of Director of the International Women’s Forum and a Board of Trustee Member of the United Fund of Dade County. Formerly she was President of the Board of Directors of the Humane Society of Greater Miami, served on the National Franchisee Advisory Council for Fuddruckers, Inc. and a Board of Trustee member of the Coconut Grove Chamber of Commerce.
Ms. Amos’ accomplishments have been recognized by many: she received an Honorary Doctoral Degree from Johnson & Wales University, Doctor of Business Administration in Hospitality Management in 1990, is currently listed and has been included in many previous editions of the WHO’s WHO: In America, In the World, American Women, South and Southeast. She is a four time winner of the “Fuddruckers’ National Franchisee Award” and a recipient of the “Philip J. Romano Founders Award”. She was ranked #1 Woman-Owned Business in 1998 and #2 in 1999 by Florida Trend Magazine and listed in “101 Women to Watch: Miami-Dade’s Most Influential Females of 2001” by Miami Metro Magazine. She is Women of Tomorrow’s “Mentor of the Year” in 2008, a recipient of the “Outstanding Woman Business Owner” from the National Association of Women Business Owners, the “My She-Ro” Honor from Women’s Fund of Miami-Dade County and the “Volunteer of the Year Award” from the Council on Advancement and Support for Education – Southeastern U.S.
Her memberships include American Institute of Certified Public Accountants, Florida Institute of Certified Public Accountants, Greater Miami Aviation Association.
Ms. Amos is the widow of Dr. Thomas R. Righetti, Director of Radiology at Jackson Hospital South, who died in an airplane crash on September 18, 2002. Son, Jeffrey L. Amos, and granddaughter, Kendall Amos, reside in Nashville, Tennessee. Hobbies include skiing, scuba diving, water skiing hiking.
