America Reads

Erin is the Director of America Reads, a literacy program at the University of Michigan that reaches hundreds of children in Detroit Public and Ypsilanti Community Schools. After serving as a New York City Teaching Fellow and earning a Master of Science degree in Education from the City University of New York, Erin returned to her home state of Michigan in 2010. Appointed to the Dearborn City Beautiful Commission in 2014, she works to engage residents in neighborhood revitalization efforts, and selects award-winning residential and business properties throughout the city.
Erin serves on the College of Arts, Sciences and Letters Governing Board and the Women’s & Gender Studies Department Advisory Board at the University of Michigan-Dearborn.  She has been named an honorary member of the Golden Key International Honour Society, and is a 2015 Fellow of the Michigan Political Leadership Program at Michigan State University.  Erin is committed to the empowerment of young women in all aspects of her work, and is a proponent of civic engagement.
