Dianne Wells

Plante & Moran, PLLC

Dianne leads Plante Moran’s retail dealer industry, one of the largest practices in the nation focused specifically on assisting auto dealers with a broad range of financial and business issues. For more than 29 years, she has focused on serving owner-managed businesses. She is known for her balanced approach to tax savings, long-term business planning, and shareholder relationships. Most recently, Dianne has focused on guiding her clients through unprecedented changes in the auto industry, tax planning, and business succession planning.

Dianne joined the Plante Moran team as a graduate of the University of Michigan (with honors) and has successfully built her career on putting her clients first. She also serves as a mentor to staff and is often sought out for that purpose. Dianne has played an active role in helping several Plante Moran staff attain the role of manager and, later, partner.

Dianne is a frequent industry speaker at the AICPA Auto Dealer National conference and the Detroit Auto Dealers Association. She covers topics ranging from strategies to manage the turbulent auto industry to practical advice on transition plans for family owned and operated businesses. Dianne has initiated and authored the publication of an annual Outlook for Retail Dealers, which provides dealers with a perspective on the trends impacting their business along with practical advice to move forward and respond positively to the challenges and opportunities in the marketplace.

Dianne is active in the community as a board member and coach of Girls on the Run of Southeast Michigan. The nonprofit organization is focused on helping preteen girls develop self-respect and healthy lifestyles through running.   She is a varsity letter winner from the University of Michigan and gives back to the program as a key member of the Annual Michigan Softball Academy Committee to benefit the American Cancer Society’s strides against breast cancer campaign.  She is also a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants and the Michigan Association of Certified Public Accountants.

In addition to full schedule of professional and community activities, Dianne finds time to relax with her husband and two children at their home in northern Michigan where they enjoy golfing and activities at the Bay Harbor Yacht & Golf Club.
