Alexis A. Kerr is the daughter of Rev. Ramona F. Kerr and the oldest girl of eleven brothers and sisters. For the past two decades, Alexis has been committed to making the community she lives in better through volunteering. She has served on the Board of Directors for Teen Straight Talk and worked with them for three years teaching abstinence education in the U.S., Africa, and the Caribbean. She is an active volunteer coordinator for the Special Olympics and the Fundraising Board member for the Detroit Pregnancy Test and Help Center. Additionally, she has been a spokesperson and wish granter for the Make-A-Wish Foundation for over 10 years.
In her professional career as a Manager in the automotive industry, Alexis has partnered with several fortune 500 companies and non-profit organizations such as Delphi, General Motors, the American Cancer Society, UNCF, Lighthouse PATH, and the Society of Automotive Engineers to raise money and assist youth programs. As the Certified Service Marketing Manager at General Motors she is responsible for all of the dealership service lane promotions and merchandising throughout the U.S. In August 2011, she was recognized professionally by receiving a Bold Leadership Award for her “Good Samaritan Leadership” for helping a young lady at the scene of a car accident.
Alexis answered her call to Christian Ministry in 2010 and was ordained as a Deacon at Hartford Memorial Baptist Church in October 2011. At Hartford Church, she serves in many roles as a Vacation Bible School Director and Teacher, Usher, Greeter, Stephens Ministry Leader and Youth Ministry Board member.
She holds a Bachelor’s degree in Engineering from Southern Polytechnic State University and a Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science from Kent State University. She is completing her Masters in Operations Management from Kettering University.
When Alexis is not working or volunteering, this busy lady enjoys international travel, writing, and playing sports!
