Mentor- Metro Detroit
GreenPath Debt Solutions
Akua Ofori-Mensa is a graduate of Hope College in Holland, MI where she earned her B.A. in Psychology and Women’s Studies. She has since dedicated her career to working with non-profit organizations helping those in need. Immediately following college she began at Boys Hope Girls Hope of Detroit, an organization dedicated to helping “academically talented and motivated children-in-need to meet their full potential and become men and women for others.” In her five year tenure with the organization she held several positions including Residential Counselor, Volunteer Coordinator and was eventually promoted to Program Coordinator. She developed a strong passion for helping the young men and women of metro-Detroit.
Currently Akua is a Training Specialist with GreenPath Debt Solutions, a non-profit credit counseling agency with the vision of helping people achieve a better quality of life through financial education. She began her time with GreenPath as a Certified Financial Counselor eight years ago working directly with clients to help resolve difficult financial and housing situations.
Akua has a strong belief that all children have the capacity to achieve success on their own terms as long as they are provided with the support and guidance of caring adults. She brings this belief, along with her dedication to the young women of metro-Detroit, to her role as a mentor for Women of Tomorrow.
