AJ Barkley is the Associate Readiness Executive of Detroit in the Central Metro Region where she is responsible for leading 34 banking centers with over 200 associates in the Global Consumer and Small Business Division.
AJ Barkley joined Bank of America in November 1996 in Corporate Marketing Fulfillment and Sales supporting various marketing fulfillment processes for Telephone Banking.
Her role prior to Consumer Market Executive was as the Process Design Executive for the Global Consumer and Small Business Bank. In this role, her responsibilities include creating and deploying key changes in the customer experience related to responding to inquiries in a way that meets the needs of customers.
Prior to this role, Mrs. Barkley was the Teller Process Executive for the Global Consumer Small Business Bank. Her key responsibilities were to create strategy and tactics to improve the professional teller performance focused on process innovation. She also lead the strategic and tactical direction of the Consumer Contact Centers, comprised of over 4,000 associates across 10 geographical sites supporting deposit, loans and credit products and services as the National Contact Center Executive. She was responsible for leading teams that service over 6 million customers monthly.
Additional roles include Associate Experience and Communications Executive where she had responsibility for the strategic direction of initiatives affecting approximately 11,000 associates throughout the organization. She specifically focused on; reward and recognition, diversity, mentoring, associate survey and action planning processes, internship programs and communication.
A native of Temple Hills, Maryland, Mrs. Barkley is a graduate of Morgan State University. She holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Marketing and is a member of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc.
She is active in her community participating on various boards and volunteer activities in the Metro Detroit area. Her passion is supporting those organizations that empower and improve opportunities for their communities. She and her husband of have two sons and three daughters and one grandson.
