Motorcyclists ride to benefit at-risk girls in Metro Detroit
Detroit, MI. (June 15, 2016) — The Women of Tomorrow Mentor & Scholarship Program is hosting its first annual motorcycle Ride Today for Women of Tomorrow on Saturday, June 25th. The ride begins at 10 am at TTi Global in Rochester Hills. Media Sponsor iHeart Radio’s Aaron Klauber will host and MC the morning portion of the event. The morning includes breakfast, contests, and prizes. The Ride ends at Ray C’s Harley Davidson in Lapeer where Women of Tomorrow will help celebrate Ray C’s 12th Annual Rodeo until 4pm. Guests will enjoy a pig roast, live music, bike contests, giveaways and more. Riders and non-riders are welcome. For more information, call 248-430-4095 or visit www.womenoftomorrow.org.
TTi Global President, Lori Blaker, Crain’s 100 Most Influential Women in Michigan and Women of Tomorrow Mentor & Board Member, says, “The Women of Tomorrow program provides at risk high school girls in Metro Detroit a vision of the potential they each carry inside themselves, but sometimes don’t see because of the environment in which they live.” Women of Tomorrow has a 96% high school graduation rate in Metro-Detroit and has given out $971,176 in college scholarships, over the past three years. The Ride Today fundraiser will help “ensure these young women stay in school, and for many, go on to pursue college degrees,” says Blaker.
Ride Coordinator, Kallie Roesner-Meyers, a member of Free Spirit Chapter of SE Michigan, a group of women motorcyclists who promote and encourage women riders, says “When I first learned about Women of Tomorrow, I was so inspired about their mission – like Free Spirit, it was women helping women, transforming the lives of disadvantaged and at-risk girls. I want the girls to understand a biker’s motto: Take the journey, drive into the wind, there are so many roads to explore…With that, Ride Today for Women of Tomorrow became a reality.”
The Ride Today for Women of Tomorrow event welcomes community members of the Detroit area to join in on the fun! Visit womenoftomorrow.org to find out more! Proceeds will support the Metro Detroit Program which currently mentors over 1191 at-risk girls in 54 public high schools.
Women of Tomorrow Mentor & Scholarship Program launched in the Metro Detroit area in 2011. It has been recognized 8 times on the floor of U.S. Congress and has been ranked a 4-Star Charity, the highest ranking, by Charity Navigator for three consecutive years, an achievement reached by only 12% of the more than 7,000 charities rated nationally.
